Phinney round reed pattern

The Phinney beginner basketry pattern has 20 pictures and 5 pages of instruction for weaving a round reed basket utilizing a 4" round wood base. The "Focus on Techniques" includes an introduction to twining, 3-rod wale and weaving a spiral design, basket shaping, hidden joins and a rolled border. A spoke template and "Common Techniques" are included in the last 3 pages of the pattern

The picture shown has a wood base with a "Sheleeart" style acrylic bloom coated with 1-2 layers of epoxy. These are also available for purchase within this store. This pattern may be scaled for a 4", 5" or 6" base. To achieve similar spoke gaps, the 4" would use (31) spokes, the 5" would use (39) spokes and the 6" would use (47) spokes. The weaver would be responsible for ensuring ample weaving material as the larger/smaller diameter may require more/less reed.
