Bowdoin round reed pattern

$5.00

This pattern details the steps required to weave an heirloom basket centered about a 4" round slotted acrylic bloom base. The Bowdoin pattern has 11 pages and 48 photos that show how to create two different braid weaves; regular braid and "pine needles" braid. Spoke inserts are used to not only for a footer, but also for the border. The border works with double spokes to create a solid edge that echoes the braid weave on the side . Spoke templates and "Common Techniques" are available as free downloads from this website.

The pictures shown utilize a "Sheleeart" style acrylic bloom coated with 2 layers of epoxy on a slotted wooden base. These bases are available for purchase within this store. This pattern may be scaled for a 4", 5" or 6" base. The weaver would be responsible for ensuring ample weaving material as the larger/smaller diameter may require more/less reed.

You must be familiar with basic basket weaving techniques.
